Effect Of Ambient Air Pollutants On Wheat and Mustard Crops Growing In The Vicinity Of Urban and Industrial Areas
نویسنده
چکیده
The study aimed to appraise the effect of different air pollutants viz. SO2, NOx, SPM and RSPM on biophysiological as well as yield characteristics of wheat and mustard plants grown at different sites in the urban and industrial areas of Haridwar City. The ambient levels of air pollutants were lowest at site 2 and 4 and hence these sites were treated as control sites for comparing the response pattern observed at site 1 and 3, respectively. The wheat and mustard plants grown at polluted sites (1 and 3) showed significant reduction in total chlorophyll, carotenoid, ascorbic acid, plant height, shoot fresh weight, root fresh weight and yield. The study indicated that parameters reductions in wheat and mustard grown at polluted sited correlated directly with the gaseous and particulate pollutants, which led to lower yield at polluted sites experiencing higher levels of pollutants. Pollutants Emissions of Filling Stations and Their Impact on the Air Quality (RESEARCH NOTE)
This study investigated pollutants emissions from filling stations and their impact on the air quality. Gas monitors were employed to identify the different pollutants present in the ambient air of the study areas. The results showed that the most prominent pollutants present in the ambient air are the volatile organic compounds followed by methane, then carbon monoxide. Measurements were taken...

This study was carried out to analyze the variations of Benzene, Toluene, and para- Xylene (BTp-X) present in the urban air of Delhi. These pollutants can enter into the human body through various pathways like inhalation, oral and dermal exposure posing adverse effects on human health. Keeping in view of the above facts, six different locations of Delhi were selected for the study during summe...

متن کاملModeling for vehicular pollution in urban region; A review
Air pollution is one of the major threats to environment in the present time. Increase in degree of urbanization is a major cause of this air pollution. Due to urbanization, vehicular activities are continuously increasing at a tremendous rate. Mobile or vehicular pollution is predominantly degrading the air quality worldwide. Thus, air quality management is necessary for dealing with this seve...
متن کاملLong-term spatial and temporal variability of ambient carbon monoxide in Urmia, Iran
One of the pillars of epidemiologic research on the long-term health effects of air pollution is to estimate the chronic exposures over space and time. In this study, we aimed to measure the intra-urban ambient carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations within Urmia city in Iran, and to build a model within the geographic information system (GIS) to estimate the annual and seasonal means anywhere with...
